We have 2 domain connected PC's that have Office 2016 installed via an Office 365 account. Outlook is set up to access email from the 365 Exchange server and generally works well but both PC's keep prompting for username and password at random intervals between an hour and several days. I've signed out of Office and signed back in again, removed all stored credentials in credential manager and entered the credentials in again and ticked the box to save the credentials and things at then fine for a few days then all of a sudden the user will get the password prompt when opening Outlook and possibly again another 10 minutes later then nothing again for a few days. Getting really frustrated by this as the client is angry that we haven't been able to find a fix for this yet. Anyone have any ideas at all?
I had previously succesfully setup Outlook 2007 using RPC/HTTPS. I launched and logged in several times. However, now when I launch Outlook, I see the 'Microsoft Office Outlook Credentials' window in the task bar, but I am unable to get it to 'send to front' and be visible.

Even if I move the Outloook window all around, I still can't see the credentials window and end up having to exit. After I exit Outlook through the file menu, I still see the 'Microsoft Office Outlook Credentials' window in the task bar and Outlook.exe is still in the task manager processes. Is there a way to reset the location of the 'Microsoft Office Outlook Credentials' window on Outlook startup? Is jjccdi 22.06.09 8:55. Everytime the user is opening Outlook, Outlook is prompting for the username and password but the window is hidden. I know this is what is going on because outlook keeps trying to connect but it does not connect because is waiting for the credentials and if you look on the taskbar there is a second outlook window (only in the taskbar) that belongs to the credential window. If you click on that credential window in the taskbar nothing came up on the screen.
If you try to do right click to select the Move option the right click does not give you any menu like it normaly does on the taskbar. If I select the window and try to guess where is the focus and type the username, then Tab and the password and hit enter sometimes it takes the credentials and it connects. Again we have to guess where is the focus and play with the Tab to type the username and password to get Outlook to connect. For a user to have to do this is a big deal. The user have two monitors but I checked and moved the mouse over the corners on both screens and the mouse does not go beyond the corners, so it is not that there is a blind spot on the screens. I even try as a workaround to type the credentials manually for the Exchange server in Control Panel - UserAccounts, under 'Stored User Names and Passwords' but that didn't work. Any help would be apreciate it.

The user had a Matrox TripleHead2Go before but she was no longer using the Triplehead but the drivers were still loaded. As soon as I closed the Power Desk app from Matrox the password prompt was visible. I guess I missed the 'hidden' part. Brian Tillman MVP-Outlook.
H i Partner, Thank you for posting in Partner Support Community. I am Molly and I will be assisting you with this technical issue. From your description, I understand that 2 of the Outlook 2016 clients in your Exchange 2013 environment have suddenly started prompting for credentials. If my understanding is not correct, please feel free to let me know. Could you please help us confirm the following questions: 1)What’s the version of other normal clients? Are they Outlook 2016?
2)Could you help us confirm whether the 2 affected clients are domain-joined? 3)What’s the difference between 2 affected clients and other normal clients? 4) Please use the affect account to login on other normal clients to see if this issue is related to specific machine or user. Network connection changed If you switch from a wireless to a wired network, Outlook can lose it’s connection to the email server and prompt you for credentials to reconnect. Computer goes to sleep or hibernation mode while Outlook is running When your computer switches to a low power state, such as sleep mode; this can cause an interruption in network connectivity and cause Outlook to prompt you for a username and password. Slow or otherwise unreliable network connection If Outlook has an unreliable connection to the email server, you will be prompted whenever the connection is broken and re-established. You will also experience prompting in situations where the link speed is poor, or when connected to a highly congested network. Based on my experience, I will give you following recommendations: Do following steps on the affected machine to see if the issue still exists. 1)Exit Outlook 2016, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Credential Manager.
Note If View by is set to Category, click User Accounts first, and then click Credential Manager. 2)Locate the set of credentials that has Outlook in the name. 3)Click the name to expand the set of credentials, and then click Remove from Vault.
4)Repeat step 3 for any additional sets of credentials that have the word Outlook in the name. 5)Create a new Outlook profile for the problematic user. 6)Apply the latest updates to Outlook 2016.
